Al is an NPC character in Necromundus.
[edit] History
Little is known of Al's childhood, except for the fact that he grew up somewhere in southern Africa. What can be surmised is that he was captured by slavers. It is unknown if his muteness and loss of tongue was caused by said slavers or if that had occurred prior to his capture. Rumors state that Blake is aware of how, when and why Al lost his voice and tongue, but no one has ever dared ask him of his boson's injuries. The slave ship that Al was on was boarded by Blake and his pirates, and of all the slaves taken and sold again, Al was the only one kept by Blake and his crew. He was treated better than most slaves were, perhaps because the man was strong and could do work on the ship better than many of the pirates. This may have been part of the reason that Blake eventually freed the man, and as before he had not had a name that the crew called him at all, he picked a name for himself (with Blake's help), Alastair Reginald Queensbury. A few of the pirates initially laughed at his choice of name, but when they found their hands no longer attached to their bodies, they switched to simply calling him "Al" or "Black Al". The silent man continued to serve with Blake until the two were captured, tried, and hanged.
Al continues to serve under Blake in Necromundus on their new ship The Poseidon's Sorrow.
[edit] Description
Al is just an enormous Tauroid. Standing close to seven feet tall, the Tauroid is also extraordinarily bulky, all from muscle. He's covered in short, light brown fur, with a white spot on his stomach area. His horns are fairly long, and have a fairly taught chain running between them. A clasp that holds both ends of the chain is located roughly where his horns begin to curve. His face is probably the most interesting part of his entire body though, simply because it is covered in piercings, all of them displayed with silver rings. He has four on the bottoms of each ear, and one on the top of each, one is in his right eyebrow, and another larger one is a nose ring. Perhaps the most interesting piercings are not visible from the front. He has twenty-seven rings, in a line and resting on top of each other, going from the nape of his neck and down his spine to the middle of his back.
He wears little, only two straps over his chest which hold his weapons, and then dark leather leggings. His choice of weapons is nothing but brutal, a large hafted axe slung over his back by the straps, and two almost holster looking pouches at his waist hold two long-bearded axes.
