Amanda Ramlan

The Right Honourable Dame Amanda Ramlan (née Vane) is a Sivadian Councillor, a diplomat and a former First Councillor of Sivad. She is currently the Secretary of State for Foreign and Colonial Affairs and represents the constituency of Grand River.

Ramlan began her career with several years of service as a consular clerk. Shortly after the death of First Councillor Constantine Isherwood, she was appointed to head an experimental diplomatic vessel, SVD Pacific. Like many grand experiments it was largely unsuccessful and the ship was decommissioned after less than a year’s service.

Ramlan, however, began her political career in earnest as the Councillor for Grand River and Secretary of Foreign Affairs in the Cabinet of Paul Truffaut. She also married physician Joseph Ramlan, who mysteriously disappeared in July 3002 shortly after the birth of the couple's daughter, Kira.

Although she was one of the last cabinet members to publicly break with Truffaut after he staged a coup dissolving the Council of Equals, she was quick to pledge fealty to the newly reawakened King Richard I in attempt to restore order to a shattered nation. This earned her an appointment to the Order of Sivad and she was selected to serve as First Councillor of the newly established kingdom.

Despite her initial support of the King, her relationship with the new monarch was publicly fractious. Following a series of political missteps, she resigned early in her term in May 3003 citing conflict between private and public obligations.

She served an extremely brief stint as Director-General of the Sivadian Broadcasting Service, a position from which she likewise resigned in disgrace. Despite being dogged by an endless stream of professional and personal scandal, she retained her seat in the Council of Equals (though she spent more time in the tabloids than council chambers) and ceded Nationalist Party leadership to Sir Peter Delarme.

Following a second shattering of Sivadian government through the machinations of Wallace Marbury and Paul Moncrief, she once again returned to the position of Foreign Minister in an emergency coalition government under Sir Daniel Arndale, formed during a time of impending war with the Parallax.
