_ A cuirous sword with a curious name, the Rapier known as
/ \ "Diplomacy" comes from the same period of Fastheld's
       | ^ | history as the Radiant Darkness and, much like it's
       | | | counterpart, is a weapon with a name earned through deed
       | | | rather than bravado.
       | | |
       | | | A Silver Rapier in look, but with a durability akin to steel,
       | | | Diplomacy is an elegant weapon indeed, featuring a slender
       | | | 36" long platinum blade that tapers to a sharp point, and a
       | | | 10" hilt, that - all in all - speaks of a weapon of 46" in
       | | | total length from pommel to tip.
       | | |
       | | | Though the eternally polished silver blade is remarkable in
       | | | and of itself, of most interest to the casual observer as the
       | | | rather unconventional golden quillions that sweep back from
       | | | the jewelled ricasso black to flow over the wire-wrapped
       | | | handle and cover it completely without dampening the
       | | | ability to hold the weapon, offering total protection from
       | | | any other blades. Indeed, should any blade strike these
       | | | quillions, one might assume that it will just slide off,
       | | | keeping the hands out of harm's way.
       | | |
       | | | Rogues that prey on honest travellers have need of weapons
       | | | that are light and easily concealed - weapons such as this
       | | | one. Though the history of Diplomacy is not known, it is
       | | | certain that there is a certain irony to the name, and that
       | | | whatever it's origin, this deadly rapier was never intended
       | | | for honest purposes.
       | | |
       |_^_| Merely holding the beautifully adorned gold and silver weapon

\\\#/// Nobles with even fatter purses spring to the mind unbidden.
