In the year 3000, Darian Ellesmere served as Second Consul to First Consul Cristoff Vandervere, founder of the Martian Republic after Mars broke away from the Solar Consortium. After Vandervere became gravely ill, Ellesmere assumed the post of First Consul. In 3001, he yielded the First Consul job to Second Consul Deke Armitage so that he could govern the Pallas colony on Deserata and care for his alcoholic wife, Eudora. In 3002, with the ascension of Emerson Mauthus to First Consul, Ellesmere returned to Mars to serve as mayor of the city of Hesperia. But then came the inevitable sweep of the Moebius Effect in late 3002. Ellesmere and his wife fled with other refugees to Deserata as the Mars they knew was swapped with a more savage version. In 3003, Ellesmere returned to power as the Republic's First Consul after the public suicide of Emerson Mauthus, and with the formation of the Solar Republic he became its head, also called the First Consul. He retired from his job on July 1st, 3008.
