Leodhais was born in 2983 to Jean-Yves Chaloux and the Baroness Eilidh Macrath, the youngest of three sons. Jean-Yves is a common-born, arrogant, business-minded, and successful manager at Kuda Energy. Eilidh Macrath was the youngest daughter of a Ducal family; when she married Jean-Yves, however, she was disinherited. The marriage has always been an unsteady one; Jean-Yves intended Eilidh to be a trophy wife and the path to a noble title; cheated of that, and Eilidh - disinherited - having no socially acceptable exit from the marriage, the tension between the two echoed through the family for years.
The eldest son is Roland. The prize son. Shown off at parties and introduced to people with pride. Star student, dedicated worker, and generally unfathomable as he never does much of anything for himself. He doesn't really keep track of Leodhais, but if told something's wrong or he's ASKED to help, he'll do so as long as it doesn't get him into grief with Jean-Yves. He's the one being prepared to inherit.
The middle son is Henri. Henri was adored and allowed to do whatever he liked. Especially to Leodhais. He's clever, but not brilliant. He's manipulative and a bit of a sadist. Jean-Yves doesn't care what Henri does, as long as he gets good grades and has a good job and reputation.
Leodhais is the third son. Born prematurely, always rather small for his age, he took heavily after his mother. Since Jean-Yves has the heir-and-spare already, Leodhais isn't necessary to his plans. He just wanted Leodhais to showcase. Get good grades, have Big Achievements, something he can use at social functions.

Adored by his mother, despised by his father, Leodhais inadvertently became the source of even greater family tension, that finally ended in domestic violence, and the accidental death of his mother. Leodhais' attitude shifted from trying desperately to please his father, to actively trying to aggravate him or outdo him - and was packed off to boarding school, where he utterly failed to become someone his father could show off at parties. However, although young, Leodhais had a deep dedication to Sivad and a driving need to succeed. Graduating with a degree in Political Science from the Univeristy of Ynos, Leodhais sought out the scandal-ridden Foreign and Colonies Office to begin a career in politics, doing side-work as a freelance reporter to help cover expenses.
It was a very brief career. Working under Amanda Ramlan, Leodhais did undertake a meeting with Darian Ellesmere, but shortly afterward decided that a better route to his goals lay in journalism.

Leodhais had been balancing a job between playing errand boy for the foreign secretary of Sivad and as a junior reporter for INN. When presented with the opportunity to become a full-time investigative reporter for INN, he was forced to choose between the two career options he wished to pursue - work his way up in the Sivadian government, or become a big name galaxy-wide as a reporter. He went with the latter, and is currently employed with INN under Darkeye Lockjaw, the Demarian Editor.
