Miran

From OtherVerse Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Miran, one of the resident Descendants in the city of Necromundus, lives in a small little house in the Dead End Gardens district. A warrior by trade, she is happy to join in battle parties or obtain crafting materials for a fee. She also trains and sells a variety of inexpensive standard mounts and dabbles in several other crafting trades.

[edit] About Miran's Appearance

When Miran arrived in Necromundus, she was dismayed to discover her body was huge, hoofed, red, horned and…ugh, naked. As she moved through the first initial hours in the realm, though, she came to understand that part of being a Descendant is the ability to play on what others perceive, and that applied as much to her appearance and clothing as anything.

When Miran first meets a fellow resident, she generally appears to them as she sees herself- that is, as a petite, dark-haired, French-Creole, humanoid woman dressed in a neat pinstripe suit with red accents, and no wings. Those without expectation or bias are more susceptible to the impressions that Miran can project from her own mind. To those she knows, therefore, she generally appears as she did the first few times they met- what people expect to see becomes what people actually see. This also means that what one person sees may not be echoed by the person next to them.

There are a few exceptions to this. Particularly perceptive individuals with a reason to look past her offered appearance may realize it is a trick of the mind, or even be able to view her demon form. To those with minds weakened by drink or strong emotions or just generally open to the impossible, Miran can project any image of herself she wants and may change it to suit the scene. In this regard, her armor may appear or not regardless of her *actually* wearing it. Of course, in combat, if she’s not actually wearing it, she can project the image all she wants but it will do her little defensive good. Individuals with a particularly strong desire to see something or, usually, someone that is not present in the realm of Necromundus are also vulnerable to the powers of perception and image with Miran. Usually to further the cause of the Descendants, Miran might abandon any control of her appearance in the presence of these individuals, and they, therefore, may see someone particularly important to them. Miran is not a telepath, so in these instances she has no idea what she looks like in the eyes of those beholders, and must rely on the clues they give her through speech and movement to figure it out. She therefore generally has a pretty good idea of what the target yearns for before she risks the trick.
