OS: Millennium Infomatrix

From OtherVerse Wiki

See the page on the Infomatrix for information on the In Character network. This entry is about the coded aspects.

The Infomatrix offers many coded opportunities for MUDQuests, hacking and possibilities for exploring a grid that few others get to see.

The first step for a character is to acquire a Datajack. These can be acquired in chargen for 50,000 credits.

Once in game, +equip the datajack to be transported to the main node. From here, there are several exits that one may take. Exits to public places simply require typing that exit. Exits that represent firewalls must be penetrated with +hack <exit>. Note that this is treated as an in character action, and consequences may follow for those who fail to cover their tracks (the ghosting skill is used for this).

[edit] Important Commands

  • +hack <exit> - This command costs 50 crafting minutes and attempts to penetrate a firewall. Firewall Penetration is the relevant skill used.
  • +matrixscan <exit> - This action costs 50 crafting minutes and tells a user the strength of the firewall and its ability to trace intruders.
  • +spoof <exit> - This should be used before a +hack attempt, but is used to weaken a system's ability to detect a user attempting to intrude. Network Spoofing is the relevant skill.
  • +dos <exit> - This ability is used to attempt to weaken a server, making penetration easier. DOS Attack is the relevant skill.
