OtherSpace: Millennium Life After Chargen

From OtherVerse Wiki

When a new player is just approved, they may feel satisfaction, followed by a rather common question: "Now what?"

Contents

[edit] Finding a Scene

If you are brand new and want to jump right in, there are a few things you can do.

[edit] Check Where

The 'Where' command (that's all that needs to be typed) will tell you where scenes are going on, and how many are currently in that room.

[edit] Ask on Channel

Use the Otherchan to ask something like 'anyone want to RP' or 'anyone want to RP at X place?' - Most likely, at least one player will be interested in a scene and not currently engaged.

[edit] Use Hangouts

If all else fails, waiting in a tavern or other public place will help bring RP about. Easy excuse to show up, easy way to leave, and plenty of interesting adventures begin when 'you are all seated in a tavern', as so many games have taught us.

[edit] Getting Involved

Sometimes a player wants to get involved in more than individual scenes. Here are some things that can be done.

[edit] Find an Org

Organizations, or Orgs for short, are a great way to get involved. They provide people who may be united by proximity, objective, or just because, but they have several players, allowing a new character to feel 'a part of something.'

[edit] Check out News and Rumors

Use either the RU (rumor) board or +news (+news/help for commands) to see what's been going on recently. Maybe you can find a place for your character to jump in.

[edit] +calendar

Check out the +calendar for events happening soon. Showing up might just help you find the right group of people.
